NAFME

Congratulations to Interlake High School students, Rolanda Fu (violin), Emily Sun (violin), Trey Sakazaki (alto sax) and Chance Sweetser (trombone), for being named to the 2014 NAfME All-National Honor Ensemble sponsored by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). Together these four Interlake High School students joined the most musically talented and skilled high school students in the United States for a once-in-a-lifetime experience: performing on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee, on October 29, 2014.

Fu and Sun who study under the direction of Dr. Shira Katsman are two of only four students from Washington State named to the 150 member Symphony Orchestra, while  Sakazaki and Sweetser, under the direction of Interlake High School’s David Kim and Paul Gillespie, are two of just three Washington State students named to the 150 member Concert Band.

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
