Updated August 28, 2015: In an effort to ensure students can start the year at the correct school, all Public School Choice applications received by 1:00 p.m. on August 28, 2015 have been processed. Letters have been mailed to your home and email notifications will be sent on August 28th.
Public School Choice applications will be accepted until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. If you wish to submit an application, but have not done so by 1:00 p.m. on August 28th, plan on starting the year at your neighborhood school unless notified.
Beginning with the first year of improvement schools must offer public school choice – an important provision of the federal Elementary and Secondary School Act (ESEA) that offers families an alternative to their neighborhood school. PSC is a program unique to schools that operate a Title I, Part A program. The district is required to set aside 20% of its Title I allocation, or $352,992, for choice-related transportation and SES services.
Under this option, families of students at Ardmore Elementary, Lake Hills Elementary, Sherwood Forest Elementary, and Stevenson Elementary Schools are eligible for Public School Choice. For the 2015-16 school year, Bennett and Cherry Crest Elementary Schools are choice options. Given the limited space within our schools, in order to offer additional choice, the Bellevue School District has entered into a cooperative agreement with Lewis River Academy, an online school within the Woodland School District, to allow students an opportunity to enroll. More information about Lewis River Academy can be found at: http://www.lewisriveracademy.org
While parent preference will be considered, the district will determine placement. If not all students can attend their first choice of schools, priority will be given to lowest-achieving, low-income students.
Letters specific to each school, and an application for Public School Choice have been mailed home to families, or can be downloaded. Please complete and submit all applications by 3:00pm on Friday, August 28, 2015. Applications can be emailed to email@example.com or dropped off at 12111 NE 1st St, Bellevue, WA, 98005. Notifications to families will be provided no later than September 4, 2015. Please contact the Title I office with any questions, at (425) 456-4110.

Highland Middle and Odle Middle Schools are required to offer public school choice. At this time, we do not have a school within the district or outside of the district to which students from Highland and Odle students can transfer within the public school choice. Low income families attending Highland Middle School are eligible for supplemental educational services (SES).
