I hope you and your families are enjoying the summer months. Time certainly passes by quickly, and soon the new school year will be here. Our summer staff are diligently working to prepare for the opening of school in September, and I know our teachers, principals and building support staff are working on plans for their students this fall. Thank you one and all for the efforts you continue to do on behalf of our students and the mission of our district.
As we approach this new school year, I have made the decision to retire at the end of my current contract, June 2017. This year marks my 40th year as an educator and my 18th year as a superintendent. The Bellevue School District is a very special school district and I feel honored to serve the children, and community alongside our dedicated staff and board of directors.
I chose to announce my retirement at this time, in order to provide our Board of Directors time to select a new superintendent for the 2017-18 school year. We are fortunate to have a great Board, and I know they will be very thoughtful in creating a process that will serve our district and most importantly our students well.
I look forward to this next school year and I know we will all continue to work together in support of our mission for each and every one of our students. Thank you for making a difference.
With deepest respect,
