The Washington Post released its list of America’s Most Challenging High Schools for 2017, ranking all of Bellevue’s comprehensive high schools in the top 9 percent.  Only about 12 percent of U.S. public and private high schools make the national list.

The rankings are determined through an index formula that is a ratio: the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given at a school each year, divided by the number of seniors who graduated that year.

Rankings for Bellevue’s comprehensive high schools are:

Interlake #44
Newport #131
Bellevue #172
Sammamish #194

International School, a choice school, was ranked #64.
