Congratulations to Medina Elementary students Jibreel Bhatti, Minoo Jang, and Neha Mukhara who were selected as semifinalists from among nearly 3,000 entries in Washington state’s Letters About Literature essay contest! Jang’s letter advanced to the finals round and earned an Honorable Mention award.

The contest, sponsored by the Center for the Book at the Library of Congress and the Washington State Library, challenged students to write to an author and describe how a particular book affected them. Learn more about the contest by visiting the Secretary of State’s website.

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
