Congratulations to Interlake’s Sagarika Samavedi and Eshika Saxena for being selected to represent Washington state at the American Junior Academy of Sciences (AJAS) convention in Austin, Texas. The convention will be held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in February.

Samavedi and Saxena were selected at the Washington State Academy of Science’s 10th annual Symposium at the Museum of Flight, where they also had the opportunity to present their research papers. The topic of the symposium was “Climate Change in Washington State: Research Questions Critical to Preparing for the Future.”

The AJAS is America’s only honor research society for high school scientists. Each state academy of science chooses premier high school scientists as AJAS delegates.

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
