Congratulations to the 236 eligible BSD eighth grade students who were awarded scholarships through the Washington State College Bound Scholars program.  Bellevue earned the District Gold Star Award this year because 74 percent of eligible BSD eighth grade students signed up for the College Bound program, which is above the state average of 70 percent.  Additionally, Odle Middle School achieved one of the highest rates of College Bound Scholarships awarded in the state for the second consecutive year.

The College Bound Scholarship was established in 2007 by the Washington State Legislature to provide state financial aid to low-income students who may not consider college a possibility due to the cost. The College Bound Scholarship is designed to inspire and encourage Washington middle school students from low-income families to prepare for and pursue post secondary education. The early commitment of state funding for tuition has proven to increase rates of college enrollment among low-income students.

The Washington Student Achievement Council administers the College Bound Scholarship program. For more information, visit their website.

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
