Congratulations to International School’s Emily Mather and Christina Joo who each received the Congressional Award Gold Medal in Washington, D.C. in June.

According to the Congressional Award website, the award honors, “over 440 of America’s most deserving youth who have dedicated years of goal-setting and determination to earn Congress’ highest honor.”

The program recognizes, “initiative, service, and achievement in young people,” and the Gold Medal is the highest award that can be earned through the program. Participants challenge themselves through setting and meeting goals in four program areas: voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness, and expedition/exploration.
