Dear Bellevue Community,

The Bellevue School District is committed to creating and nurturing an inclusive, diverse, and welcoming community for every student and family in our district. This is especially important to reaffirm in the aftermath of last week’s devastating tragedy that occurred at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, and recent immigration enforcement actions in our city.

We acknowledge and support our Muslim and Latino students, families, staff members, and residents, as well as other groups in our community that have felt the sting of intolerance. We are stronger together and will continue to support, honor, and care for all of you in every way we can.

It is critical that we guide our students along a path that fully embraces all individuals. It is critical that we build a community where all students are affirmed, inspired, and thriving.

The Bellevue School District must stand as one in support of each and every member of our Bellevue family.

In partnership,

Ivan Duran
Superintendent
Bellevue School District

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
