Dear Families,

On February 11, the Bellevue community will vote on a capital projects bond that funds much needed improvements throughout our district. The capital bond builds on the progress of the past while looking forward to the future to make sure that all our students have the resources needed to succeed.

If approved by voters, the capital bond will provide funding for the rebuilding of Big Picture School, International School and Jing Mei Elementary. It will fund renovations and additions to Newport and Interlake High Schools, and provide modern learning spaces that support Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The bond will also fund safety and security improvements throughout the district including adding exterior safety posts at 19 school entrances and security vestibules at 8 schools.

We will soon share this video with the larger community to show why Bellevue School District is asking voters to consider this funding measure. It will explain how the bond will be used to support our students, improve the safety of our schools, and plan for the future.

We are focused on preparing our students for the future by ensuring that every student in our district has access to a high-quality learning environment that fosters growth and creativity. This bond addresses the needs of our district. It directs funds to aging schools, safety and security improvements, and will ensure there are more classrooms to accommodate future growth.

Please encourage everyone to vote on February 11. Voters can register online until February 3 at https://voter.votewa.gov/WhereToVote.aspx.

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
