Thank you to our amazing educators! Everyone at the Bellevue School District appreciates all of your work to affirm and inspire each and every student to learn and thrive as creators of their future world.
A teacher is defined as someone who helps students attain knowledge, competence or virtue, but teachers are much more than that. Teachers are role models, friends, counselors, coaches and confidants. Teachers can change lives. Through strong relationships with their students, teachers can have an effect on many parts of the lives of their students. They also start students on a path of a lifelong yearning for knowledge and discovery.
With the unexpected change to how we will finish the school year, BSD teachers have adjusted their strategies, plans and schedules to adapt to our new routine and circumstances. Bellevue teachers are finding and creating innovative ways to engage students in remote learning. Middle and high school teacher Chad Magendanz presents to his students in Teams as an animated version of himself and Riley Uselman, a fourth grade teacher, sent her students a “flat Ms. Uselman” to accompany their reading of the book “Flat Stanley.” Tyee Middle School teacher James Burke is encouraging his student to build and create with found objects, recyclables and things that would otherwise be thrown away. BSD teachers are singing, creating their own videos and collaborating. We want to recognize our teachers and the pivotal role they play in the lives of all of our students. Thank you for inspiring a love of learning and discovery and making a difference in the lives of your students.
