The Bellevue School District is excited to start the 2020-21 school year. Because many of us are doing things differently at this time, technology has become an even more important part of our daily lives. In order to help each and every Bellevue student learn, connect and thrive during these uncertain times, the Technology department has distributed laptops and iPads to students across the district. These advantages and opportunities come with responsibilities and we want students to be kind, thoughtful and responsible digital citizens.
The Bellevue School District recently replaced our previous student technology agreement with a new Technology Responsible Use Pledge. (Spanish | Hindi | Chinese) Please take some time to review and discuss this pledge with your student. It is designed to promote positive use of technology, foster student ownership and reinforce good digital citizenship. We believe that this new Technology Responsible Use Pledge is better aligned with our vision, mission and shared values. The district is excited that we can provide each student with a device that will enable them to continue learning through these uncertain times. Technology lends itself to many unique opportunities for students to learn, innovate, connect and thrive. This opportunity will also help students learn how to be responsible digital citizens. For more information and opportunities for learning about being a responsible digital citizen or modeling good digital citizenship, the district recommends and utilizes Common Sense Media. Families can also visit our technology safety information page for more information and resources.
The district invited our educators to review the Pledge and consider using relevant pieces as they build their positive classroom norms with students. Additionally, elementary school librarians, homeroom teachers, research technology specialists and health teachers will deliver Common Sense Media lessons focused on building positive digital citizenship with our students.
The Technology Department is available to support students and families. For technology support, contact tech support staff by email, phone or in person. Visit our Technology Support page for details.
