Dear Students and Families,
Last week Superintendent Dr. Duran announced his resignation and immediate leave from Bellevue School District. For the past four years, I have had the honor and privilege of working closely with Dr. Duran and express my deep appreciation for his leadership and vision for education. His commitment to educators and particularly, his impact on students will be felt for years to come. I wish Dr. Duran and his family the very best in their next endeavors.
Our priority at this time will focus on finishing the 2021 school year Bellevue Strong for our students. Staff and community are working together to ensure robust summer and fall plans for student success. We are also excited to celebrate our students, with a special recognition to the Class of 2021 – we are so proud of their accomplishments and thrilled they will be able to attend graduation in-person this year!
I have served in many roles in the district for nearly 30 years and know the talented Bellevue staff and supportive community to be fiercely committed to students and education. I also know there have been significant tensions this year brought on by many unfamiliar challenges we faced during the pandemic. We are all looking forward to the 2021-22 school year, with students returning full-time in person, five days per week. We plan on providing additional academic and social-emotional supports for students in this coming year, as well as working closely with families and our community partners for a renewed school experience. I hope you will join me in working collectively as a dedicated Bellevue learning community to bring this school year to a celebratory close next month and work together in unity to launch the new school year with confidence, pride, and joy.
In the weeks ahead, the Board of Directors will share information and next steps including identifying an interim superintendent and establishing the selection process for a new superintendent. Until then, I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation for your patience and continued support as we move forward together for our Bellevue School District students.

La semana pasada, el superintendente Dr. Duran anunció su renuncia y salida inmediata del Distrito Escolar de Bellevue. Durante los últimos cuatro años, he tenido el honor y el privilegio de trabajar en estrecha colaboración con el Dr. Duran y expresar mi profundo agradecimiento por su liderazgo y visión para la educación.
