At Bellevue School District, we strive to create a grading system that accurately reflects learning, is resistant to bias, is motivating for students, and is a meaningful measure of student progress. We are committed to working with educators, students, and families to explore enhancements to grading practices.

To help us better serve each and every student, the Grading Design Team is conducting a survey that provides families with the opportunity to provide feedback on the “purpose of grades” and “beliefs about grades and grading.” The survey is open through February 14, 2022.

Why Should Families Participate?

The Grading Design Team recognizes that seeking the perspective of families is one of the most important things we can do. Family feedback can help us better understand the current experiences and perceptions of grades and grading. Information gathered will be reviewed and help inform future recommendations for grading district-wide.

Complete the Grading Survey

We invite you to provide your input by participating in this year’s Family Grading Survey. The focus of the grading practices survey will be on grades 6-12; however, all families (elementary, middle, and high) are invited to share their feedback. The survey is anonymous, and is available in English, Amharic, Arabic, Spanish, Korean, Russian, Vietnamese, and Simplified Chinese.

Family Engagement Survey

The annual Family Engagement Survey gathers feedback from every district family around how informed, supported and empowered they feel, by their school community, to contribute to their students’ success. The valuable feedback obtained from each family is essential to the continuous improvement and advancement of family engagement practices specific to each school community.

Complete the Family Engagement Survey

Families received an email and a unique survey link on January 4 for each school where they have a student enrolled, which means they may have received multiple survey links. They will be asked to answer the survey based on the experience of their oldest student in the school. The survey is available in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Korean, Arabic, Amharic, and Simplified Chinese. Upon completion of the Family Engagement Survey, you will be prompted to complete the Family Grading Survey, outlined above.
