The search for the next superintendent of schools for the Bellevue School District is progressing according to the search process timeline and superintendent selection process outlined on the Superintendent Search webpage.
Latest News: Ideal Candidate Profile
On September 8, Human Capital Enterprises (HCE), the search firm hired by the Bellevue School District Board of Directors, presented the Ideal Candidate Profile. The Ideal Candidate Profile was developed based on feedback from the community, which was shared via listening sessions conducted by School Board Directors, stakeholder focus groups, and a community survey that closed on September 1.
During the week of September 12, HCE will conduct additional focus groups to review and refine the draft Ideal Candidate Profile which will be used to recruit candidates and select our next superintendent. The Board is scheduled to approve the Ideal Candidate Profile at its September 22 meeting. Following that, the recruitment phase will begin.
Coming Soon: Stakeholder Interview Panels
For the selection phase, The Board of Directors will convene several stakeholder panels (students, staff, community) to assist in vetting and interviewing superintendent candidates. This approach augments and deepens the level and quality of community input from past BSD searches. Sixty panelists will have access to application materials, conduct interviews facilitated by consultants, and provide feedback to the Board on each candidate. The names of applicants will not be publicly disclosed in order to attract the highest quality applicants, including current superintendents. This approach is recommended by HCE and will enhance the quality of the candidate pool, improve the quality of community input, and ensure equitable community input. Interviews are tentatively scheduled in January 2023. Panel participants must commit to participating for one full day of interviews and sign a confidentiality agreement. More information will be provided in November regarding how to express your interest in serving as a panelist.
