Principal Message:

Happy Friday Ardmore Families,

Elementary Teacher conferences are starting on Monday and they will be held over three days.

Conferences are an opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher(s) and learn about your child’s strengths in the classroom.   Additionally, it offers you an opportunity to learn more how you can support your child at home and offer information that you find their teacher should about your children. While teachers will prepare items, they will share with you, you may consider some things you would like to share about your child too! Here are some questions to consider framing your thinking:

1.       What are your hopes and dreams for your child post-high school?

2.       What are the characteristics of your child you love? What do you love about your child? (What are you most proud of about your son or daughter? What are his/her strengths?)

3.       What is important to you when you think about your child and his/her education? (What do you want school to be like?)

Teachers are looking forward to connecting with each of you. We hope this will establish a stronger and ongoing partnership between you and their teachers this year!

Ms. Arroyo, Ardmore Elementary Principal

Shine A Light on Ardmore-Health and Safety + Attendance

Please join Nurse Amy and I for an informational evening and open forum to talk about Health and Safety plus Attendance at Ardmore. We know and completely understand the uncertainties our families continue to experience regarding COVID-19 and their young ones at school. We continue to implement the mitigating measures in classrooms and throughout the school to minimize the spread of the virus. We are finding success in the process, yet we can’t guarantee COVID-19 wont find it’s way in. Our goal every day is to implement the various layers to minimize students that must quarantine. However, there are still many wonderings our community has and we’d like to offer time to talk about these with you. We hope you will consider joining us this evening for the first Shine a Light on Ardmore with the Principal. If you are not able to join, we will be recording the event and posting it on our website.

Fall Smarter Balance Testing 2021

Ardmore 4th and 5th graders will be taking the 2020-2021 Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBAs) this month.  The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) decided that our students would be taking last year’s SBAs at the beginning of this school year.  As such, the current 4th grade students will take the 3rd grade assessments, and the current 5th grade students will take the 4th grade assessments.

Both grades will be completing the ELA and math assessments on the following days:

4th Grade

ELA: Tuesday, October 19th – 8:15-10:15 a.m.

Math: Thursday, October 21st – 8:15-10:15 a.m.

5th Grade

ELA: Wednesday, October 27th – 8:05-10:30 a.m.

Math: Thursday, October 28th – 9:30-11:30 a.m.

You can help your child do their very best by:

·         Helping your child get a good night’s sleep the nights before assessment days.

·         Encouraging them to eat breakfast either at home or at school.

·         If you drive your child to school, be sure to drop them off by 8:00 a.m.

·         Charging your child’s school laptop, the night before, and making sure they bring both their laptop and charger to school with them on the SBA days.  They will complete the assessments on their computers.

Thank you for your partnership and support in helping our Ardmore students do their best and show what they know!
