Principal Message: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Good afternoon Ardmore Families,
Through the pandemic we been challenged to creatively think outside the box about family engagement opportunities. We want to meaningfully partner with our families and establish a school culture that represents the make of our community. To do this, it is important we hear firsthand from our families. The following link will direct you to a short survey we’d love for you to complete. This will help us learn more about our families and their interests about their children’s education. With your feedback, we can tailor events, activities or informationals to your interests and develop a stronger connection with our community! District Math Curriculum
This year Bellevue School District is using a new math curriculum called Illustrative Math in kindergarten through 7th grade. Our former math curriculum is no longer available from the publisher. The new curriculum is standards aligned, more rigorous, and includes structured language routines intended to increase engagement and discourse opportunities for students. More information about the curriculum adoption process can be found here: https://bsd405.org/departments/curriculum/curriculum-adoption/p-7-mathematics-update-adoption-committee/
In an effort to support families, Teaching and Learning has made available family resources related to our new math curriculum. These resources are available via Bellevue School District’s website within our Curriculum and Instruction section of the website: Learning Resources for Students and Families – Bellevue School District (bsd405.org).
Below are grade level links that will provide an example of Unit 2, embedded within our parent and family OneNotes.
In addition to new curriculum implementation, educators are also trying out new software platforms for the math curriculum: LearnZillion in elementary schools and Desmos in IMT 1 and 2. The platforms are separate from the curriculum and are ways for students to interact with the math content online.
Before adopting the Illustrative Math curriculum for future years, or deciding whether to retain these particular platforms, Teaching and Learning is collecting feedback from families, students, and classroom educators. We invite you to consider completing this short, anonymous survey by December 5th to provide us with your thoughts. The demographic questions are completely optional.
Thank you in advance for your time and input. If you have questions, please send them to p12mathupdate@BSD405.org.

Dismissal Pick UP procedures!
We know it may be difficult for some to wait in line for car pick up. If this is becoming a challenge, we highly encourage you to consider other options that may be more suitable: BUS or Walkers pick up. Recently, we’ve had more families attempting to walk up to the car pick up zone to grab their child. If you did not notify the teacher you will be picking up via Walkers option, we will request families to go back to their car and get in car line for pick up. There are a multitude of reasons we must keep these processes in place for the safety and security of our students. Thank you so much for your understanding to keep everyone safe!
Pre-arranged absences
Reminder about Pre-Arranged Absences. With the holidays approaching, we’d like to remind you that Bellevue School District allows each student 5 pre-arranged absences (PRA) per year. You may use these one at a time, or all at once. These are excused absences that you can use for a travel day, a sport or dance competition or a longer trip. If your child will be missing 3 or more days, we ask that you submit a pre-arranged form at least 2 weeks prior to your trip. If your child will only be missing one or two days, please email ardmoreattendance@bsd405.org
