Principal Message: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Hello wonderful Ardmore Families,
I want to begin sharing how proud I am of our community and the respect they have demonstrated each other as we navigated a new phase with masking as related to COVID-19. Our teachers and staff spent a lot of time talking about the importance of supporting one another and our individual choices. Students have demonstrated a lot of compassion and understanding. So grateful and proud!
In other news, these past two weeks, we been noticing an increase in math discussions by students at all grade levels. We are proud of the progress students are demonstrating this year using Illustrative Math curriculum. A big push of this curriculum is for students to engage in math talk and deepen their thinking and reasoning about math through peer-to-peer discourse at every grade level. During all my classroom visits, students appear willing and enthusiastic to share their thinking about math concepts. Students that may have traditionally been more hesitant to share their reasoning with others, are gaining courage and speaking about math during class time. We anticipate seeing more student growth in math as we continue to refine teaching practices with this curriculum.
As our partners, you can help your student by having them practice at home how by prompting them to expand on their reasoning and thinking ideas. It can happen in many ways, but one way is in the way you challenge their thinking and to expand on what they tell you. As you engage in conversations with your children at home, consider using some of the following statements to deepen their understanding and strengthen their reasoning: Clarify your thinking Tell me more about what you are saying Tell me in a different way what you are thinking Let add an idea or build on to what you are saying

Kindergarten Registration | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
It is time to enroll new students New student enrollment (including incoming kindergarteners) for the 2022-2023 school year is now open at https://bsd405.org/schools/enrollment/. While you may enroll your students later, enrolling now helps the district ensure we have the correct staffing to support your students with the smallest classes possible. If your student is already enrolled in a BSD school, you do not need to submit a new enrollment. They will automatically move up to the next grade. Thank you. |
