careerfair83You can read about them, you can watch them on TV, but until you talk to a professional first-hand about their job, you really don’t understand. Our 8th graders got just that chance at the first Big Picture Career Fair on February 13th. Sixteen professionals representing 6 different career pathways attended bringing laptops, visuals, information sheets, work examples and their enthusiasm to talk about careers. We even had one of our own interns, along with his mentor, talking about his passion and future career aspirations. Students came prepared with questions and surprised our industry folks with relevant, thoughtful conversations. This activity was in support of the College and Career unit, where students researched and developed their College Roadmaps. Having a hint of what they might study in college will only jump start their higher education experience!
