Foundry 10 is a non-profit organization that strives to change, expand, and improve the unique way students learn at their own pace. Through a variety of non-conventional learning programs centered on technology, Foundry 10 studies the interests of the students as well as how they learn. Their programs range from video production, robotics, programing, and so many more. The subject for each of these programs can vary depending on the interest of the student. Foundry 10 seeks to help kindle a student’s ideas and interests on a subject to directly impact the student in a positive manner. Currently more than 10 interns are participating in and helping with, Foundry 10’s programs.
The Foundry is a flexible business, which is willing to adapt or reconstruct existing lessons and projects to fit what it is the student seeks to do or achieve. This helps Foundry 10 learn and experience more ways to enhance the existing learning system to benefit the students in a more effective way.

One of the many students who works in the Foundry’s robotics programs is Sam Konzen, a 9th grader at The Big Picture School. He, along with other Big Picture Interns, are designing models and programing for a remote control robot. The members of the groups are in charge of each of their projects with few restrictions on the outcome of the project. During the project, the mentors simply guide them and help when they encounter a problem.
