The recent school shooting in Parkland, Florida, has been deeply unsettling for everyone in our community. At the Bellevue Schools, we are committed to keeping our schools safe. This letter will address two important issues.
As we head into our mid-winter break, I want to thank all of you for your ongoing support and trust in the Bellevue School District. Your approval of the three local levies will ensure that all Bellevue students receive an education that prepares them for success in college, career, and life.
An important part of our district’s mission is to make sure that our students are prepared to find success in college, career, and life. I am a strong advocate of this mission and firmly believe that all our students deserve the support, respect, and dignity in their educational experience today that directly correlate to success tomorrow.
Today marks the last day of classes for our students until 2018 and I am very grateful for the support and work that our teachers, staff, leaders and community have provided to our students over the first part of the school year. Read More
A one-year academic plan was presented to the Bellevue School Board during the October 3, 2017 regular board meeting. The academic plan highlights our strategic priorities to achieve success for all our students.
Since becoming superintendent over two months ago, I have spent a lot of time listening and learning about our district’s initiatives, strengths, and challenges. An observation that I heard frequently is the frustration and helplessness that families often feel when their child is confronted with some form of harassment, intimidation, and/or bullying (HIB).
We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that transpired today at Freeman High School in Rockford, Washington, in the greater Spokane area. Our thoughts are with all those affected and we acknowledge the bravery of staff, parents and community partners who reacted immediately to protect children and staff at the school. Read More
A number of our students and families are likely concerned about the implications that the end of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program will have for them personally and for our school community.
