First Day Parent Meet & Greet + PTSA Welcome

    • When:  8:05 am September 1 for Grades 1 – 5 & September 7 for Kindergarten
    • Where:  Cherry Crest Cafeteria – Walk around the north side of the school (toward the field) and enter through the exterior café doors.

COVID Protocols. This year will be the most “typical” year we have had since we started the 2019-20 school year.  Masks will remain optional for students and staff provided they are not recovering from COVID.  We will return to a typical lunch and recess schedule as the social distancing requirements of the previous two years are no longer in place.  That being said, should health conditions change, we will adjust our procedures to meet those changes.

Nutrition Services Updates 2022-2023. As we prepare for the reopening of school on September 1, 2022, families should anticipate that free meals will no longer be available for all students attending a BSD school. With the expiration of USDA waivers at the end of this school year, Nutrition Services returns to traditional methods of payment for school meals (free, reduced price or paid). Apply now for meal benefits by submitting the 2022-2023 application for school meal benefits online on the Free & Reduced Price Meals.

Students are welcome to bring a lunch from home.  Additional details about lunch and classroom snack will be communicated by your child’s teacher.

Baby on Board for Assistant Principal Erin Stedman. Hi Families! I hope you are well.  I spent much of summer preparing for our third baby, along with some fun local travel and lots of family time. I am due with a baby girl on September 8th.  I hope to see students on the first couple days of the school year before delivering.  If not, I will return in early March to finish out the spring with students, staff, and families. I’m excited for this opportunity to stay home to care for my three young children. My daughter will be starting 3rd grade and my four year old son will begin PreK. As soon as I give birth, I’ll transition from work mom life to life at home at a much slower pace. My goal is to enjoy this for as long as it lasts! Kjell Mattson, my sub, will act as Dean of Students and Admin Intern, alongside, Dusty Steere. I know your students are in good hands. I look forward to my return and serving you and your children in 2023. Until then…Have a wonderful start to the new schoolyear and enjoy these finals days of August! I hope to see you soon!

Welcome our new Dean of Students. Hello Cherry Crest families!  My name is Kjell Mattson (pronounced “Chel”, but I’ll go by Mr. Mattson) and will be serving as Dean of Students to support Cherry Crest while your Assistant Principal, Erin Stedman, is on maternity leave until March.  This leadership position is part of an Administrative Internship I’m completing this year.  I previously spent 12 years teaching at Puesta del Sol Elementary and have taught a total of 24 years coming into this new role.  I’m so excited to have the opportunity learn from and serve the Charger community this school year!  I look forward to meeting and getting to know you and your children in the coming months.

Online Verification Through ParentVue. Every year, all BSD families are asked to update student information through the online student verification process. Beginning on Wednesday, August 17, online data verification will begin for the 2022-23 school year. This process is not required for students enrolled in preschool. Language support in 22 languages is available to families to help complete data verification.

Families can update their student’s information by signing in to ParentVUE. The first time a family logs in after August 17, they will be directed to data verification. Verification allows families to:

  • Update their addresses online and electronically.
  • Submit required proof of residency.
  • Update their student’s demographic data.
  • Manage emergency contact lists.
  • Update photo permissions for their student.

Thank you for taking the time to update your child(ren)’s information so that we have access to accurate phone numbers and emergency contacts as well as any other information that has changed.
