Planning for the Future – Process Timeline

For the past several months the Bellevue School District has shared regular information with our learning community about the enrollment challenges the district is projected to experience. The timeline below shares prior communications and a projected upcoming timeline around this topic.
As the BSD School Board Directors review the building consolidation recommendations made by Interim Superintendent Dr. Art Jarvis presented at the February 9 school board meeting, the timeline below includes additional opportunities for community involvement prior to the final decision, tentatively set for March 16. Meetings will be held at Wilburton Instructional Service Center, Rainier Room

February 10, 2023 – Community Committee review the recommendation plan and background information. The community committee is made up of the following six community members: Michael Chen, Renuka Getchell, Steve McConnell, Heija Nunn, Marta Trilles Ramos, Monica Webster
February 13, 2023 – Community working groups and focus groups formed at impacted schools.
Week of February 13, 2023 – Reginal Committees established
Week of February 13, 2023 – Develop initial transportation plan and DRAFT school start times
Week of February 13, 2023 – Develop DRAFT facilities plan
Week of February 13, 2023 – Establish Focus Groups for Olympic families
February 14, 2023 – 4:00 pm, Community Committee meets with Deputy Superintendents to discuss the recommendation plan and provide for feedback.

February 28, 2023 – 4:30 pm, Eastgate Elementary Community: Hearing for the purpose of taking public testimony regarding the recommendation to consolidate Eastgate Elementary School with Spiritridge and Somerset Elementary Schools and to relocate Advanced Learning from Spiritridge to Woodridge Elementary School. March 2023
March 2, 2023 – 4:30 pm, Wilburton School Community, Hearing for the purpose of taking public testimony regarding the recommendation to consolidate Wilburton Elementary School with Clyde Hill and Enatai Elementary Schools. Hearing Recording.
March 6, 2023 – Establish school and department workgroups
March 9, 2023 – Provide updated recommendations to Board, include any modifications and/or mitigations based on input from stakeholders. Hearing Recording.

Finalize Olympic program placement based on family engagement process
End of open transfer process

Adjust staffing allocations based on new enrollment numbers
