Spring 2024 Update

The P-5 Literacy Instructional Materials Adoption Committee engaged with qualitative and quantitative data from our key stakeholders (students, families, educators, experimental use teachers, community) to put forward a recommendation regarding our curriculum, centering on students’ assets and the science of reading to ensure equitable outcomes for ALL. Following procedural steps, the recommendation will now progress to the Instructional Material Committee (IMC). Once the IMC approves it, the recommendation will be presented to the School Board for their approval. The School Board decision is scheduled for June 6th.

The Adoption Committee recommended this proposal:

Basic Instructional Materials

  • ARC Core (American Reading Company) for K-5 Reading Comprehension and Writing
  • Heggerty for PreK-1 Phonemic Awareness (adopted Spring of 2023)
  • UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) Foundations for K-2 Phonics

Experimental Use Materials

  • Pacific Learning El Camino for authentic Spanish Phonics for K-2 Spanish Dual Language/Immersion
  • Morphology for grades 3-5 (exact resources to be determined)
