Eastgate Staffing Updates

We are thrilled to welcome Erlinda Iniguez to Eastgate as our new assistant principal! Please see the welcome message below from her:

Dearest Eastgate Families,

I am so excited to be a part of the Eastgate Community. I look forward to partnering with you so that your children can flourish, build school connections, and love every day at Eastgate.

I spent my first 18 years in Connell, Washington and then attended Eastern Washington University to receive a bachelor’s in Business Administration with a major in accounting. After working in accounting for several years, I changed careers and received my master’s in Education from Pacific Lutheran University.  Upon graduation, I was recruited by the Puyallup School District and spent 18 years as an intermediate teacher. After my two daughters graduated high school in the Puyallup School District, I decided to pursue school administration and completed the Educational Leadership Program for Principal Certification with City University.

I am a proud parent of two amazing, intelligent, strong, motivated daughters. Alexia is a recent graduate from Western Washington University and currently self-employed as a public relations consultant. Sophia is a senior at Gonzaga University who will graduate with a bachelor’s in Criminology, Sociology, and minor in Women and Gender studies with plans to go to law school. I am family oriented and enjoy spending quality time with friends and family. I love to stay active and enjoy the arts, especially musicals. I come from of large family of 13 who are strong proponents of higher education, as all 11 children have received a college education with careers varying from school administrators, teacher, school counselor, doctor, physical therapist, managers …. and even an opera singer. 😊

I am looking forward to building relationship and supporting you throughout the year!

In addition to welcoming Erlinda, there have been some classroom assignment changes. Due to an increase in enrollment in kindergarten we have shifted staffing to ensure lower class sizes for our youngest learners, while still maintaining classes of under 23 in all other grades at this time. Here are our latest classroom teaching assignments:

Kindergarten – Tiffany Ostlund, Cassandra Shanklin, Kelly Sauve

1st Grade – Sara Lockwood, Diana Forsman, Natasha Nimmo

2nd Grade – Kelli Lane, Kristine Tan

2/3 Split – Jenny Rosenthal

3rd Grade – Jannette Rotz, Angela Wulbert

4th Grade – Shail Azhar, Emma Snyder, Alex Rea

5th Grade – Inna Bobick, Doug Faulkner, Olivia Ingersoll

When to Stay Home?

    • Note – the linked document does give guidance for what to do when children show one or more potential symptoms. As a school, we will always error on the side of being overly cautions and will isolate your child and contact you if your child shows any symptoms during the school day

How Can I Help?

  • Ensure your child has a well-fitting mask they can wear for long periods of time
  • Practice mask wearing now and check frequently for fit – Is it sliding down their nose? Do they have to touch it often? Does it hurt behind their ears?
  • Keep your child home if they have any cold symptoms – contact Nurse Amy or our school office for questions and guidance
  • Quarantine and Isolate for the full recommended time to protect others
  • Any questions – do not hesitate to reach out. Guidance changes and we are here to help!
