Upcoming Dates

April 1, PTA First Friday – Family Game Night

April 11-15, No School, Spring Break

Dear Eastgate Families,

So much has been happening at Eastgate over the past few weeks. March is Women’s History Month and our students have been learning about the lives and legacies of women throughout history. Our 4th grade students are finishing up their work with Pacific Northwest Ballet’s Discover Dance program and will be performing next week. Starting this Monday, all of our students will be zone-free at recess, meaning they can play anywhere with friends from other classes in their grades! This is just a few highlights of our past few weeks.

We wanted to let you know about an important change in staffing we will have. Our amazing office manager, Jessica Soto, will be moving to be the new office manager at Sammamish High School! She will be greatly missed but we are so excited for her new adventure. See below for a message to the community from her and join me in wishing her the best in her new role!

Sincerely,

May Pelto, principal

Dear Eastgate families,

I am writing to let you know that I have accepted a position at Sammamish High School as the office manager. It is a bittersweet feeling as I am very sad to leave the Eastgate community but I am also very excited to leap into my new adventure with Sammamish High School. My start date is still being worked out but I am thinking it will be around spring break. I have truly enjoyed my years at Eastgate Elementary. Thank you for being such an amazing community to be a part of and  for the support and goodwill you’ve shown over the years. I will miss seeing your children’s smiley faces as they walked in the school building. Please stay in touch, my email will remain the same sotoj@bsd405.org

Sincerely,

Jessica Soto

It is time to enroll new students
New student enrollment (including incoming kindergarteners) for the 2022-2023 school year is now open at https://bsd405.org/schools/enrollment/. While you may enroll your students later, enrolling now helps the district ensure we have the correct staffing to support your students with the smallest classes possible.
If your student is already enrolled in a BSD school, you do not need to submit a new enrollment. They will automatically move up to the next grade.
Thank you.

Extend childcare hours available

Gracias.

Family Education Connections

Join the Bellevue Schools Foundation for a special, family-focused Education Connections on Wednesday, April 6, at 5 p.m. through Zoom! RSVP here. The Dining Services Supervisor of Overlake Medical Center, Melicent Smith, will discuss how parents can help support and create healthy eating habits within their families. Childhood and adolescence are critical periods when individuals develop the patterns and knowledge around healthy eating that persist for years in the future. Find out how small changes at home can have a significant impact on the mental, physical, emotional health of your students.

BSF Spring for Schools

Join us in person for Spring for Schools at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue, on May 13, 2022, for a premiere event that’s unlike any of the 31 events of years past! We are keeping your experience and health top of mind as we prepare to celebrate our stars—students and educators in all 29 public schools in Bellevue. Throughout this school year, over $800,000 in distributions from the Foundation directly support the academic, artistic, social, and emotional development of almost 20,000 students.

Spring for Schools is a fundraiser to ensure critical programming provided by BSF continues; donations will be leveraged to transform public education in our community. While registration for Spring for Schools is free, it is our hope that attendees celebrate our students, educators, and mission by making a donation at this time here.

RSVP Today! Or visit www.bellevueschoolsfoundation.org/spring-for-schools
