Dear Eastgate Families,

I am excited to announce we have selected a new office manager. Our interview team loved her energy and experience. She will be joining the Eastgate team this Monday, May 2nd. She would like the students to call her Ms. Lalynn. Below is a message from her with just a quick summary of her background. Please join me in welcoming Lalynn Hines!

Lalynn Hines

Eastgate Office Manager

I have over 20 years of experience in business and office administration. Most recently for Talon Private Capital as the Executive Assistant and before that, as the Administrative Assistant & Business Property Concierge for KGIP.  I also worked as an Office Manager and Executive Assistant at Budget Maintenance, a facilities maintenance company for over 5 years and held several administrative positions within the Bellevue School District for over 5 years. My skillset allows me to interact professionally and resourcefully with all individuals that I come in contact with.

I love to travel and eat, am the proud mother of 5 daughters and have 4 grandson’s that I love to spoil.

If You Appreciate our Staff

This week is staff appreciation week. You and your family can join in the appreciation fun by participating in these daily activities:

Monday – Your challenge for the day is to say thank you to as many different staff members as you can. Don’t forget to tell them what you are

thankful for!

Tuesday – Please make a poster showing how much you appreciate the staff. We will collect the posters in the morning on your way into school and hang them in the halls where the staff will be able to see them.

Wednesday – Let the staff know how much you appreciate them by showing your school spirit! Wear your grade shirt or spirit wear to school.

Thursday – Please write or draw a letter telling, or showing, staff members how much you appreciate them. Be sure to hand the letter(s) out!

Friday – Please give staff members a high five or knuckle bumps to show them how much you appreciate them! Air high fives, a smile, and a wave work too if that is what you are comfortable with.

Don’t forget that the last day to donate toward the Staff Appreciation Gift Baskets and Gift Cards will be on Monday, May 2nd. Donations for Gift Baskets are being collected during morning drop off and donations toward gift cards can be made at https://www.eastgatepta.org/. Scroll down to the “donate” button. Thank you!

As COVID volunteer restrictions are being lifted we’re excited to be welcoming more volunteers into our building. As a reminder, ALL volunteers need to have the volunteer paperwork completed at least 1-week prior to volunteering. Please go to https://bsd405.org/get-involved/volunteer/ for more information.

Young Author’s Day and Reader’s Theater

Young Author’s Day is a celebration of Eastgate’s young writers and illustrators that have been hard working on their writing all year long.  Each spring, for the last 30+ years, Eastgate has held a Young Author’s Day (YAD) conference. During this special day, every child at Eastgate shares their own book that they wrote and illustrated. We share our writing with other students, hear from a published author, and watch a drama performance. The last few years have added special challenges to this tradition, but we made it work! This year we have our author visit Live on Teams, a pre-recorded drama (readers theater), and book sharing virtually on FlipGrid and/or in class!

Fourth and fifth grade students, guardians, or staff if you are interested in being a part or helping in the drama production this year please complete this form: https://forms.office.com/r/5uJKeptxqC

Students if you have a piece of writing you would like to be included in the drama production, please turn it in to the library!

Students are Invited to Choose our 2022-23 Theme and T-Shirt Design!

Calling all Eastgate Eagles – this year we had the theme, Better Together. YOU can help create our theme for next year AND the t-shirt design. Idea templates are coming home next week and need to be returned to the office by June 1.

2022-2023 Plans

Hard to believe, but we are already planning for the 2022-2023 school year! Please take a moment to complete the linked form to help us know what your plans are for next school year. If you are staying at Eastgate, this is also where you would provide input for class placement  https://forms.office.com/r/RAuefL7Qbn

Superintendent Search

The Directors of the Bellevue School Board welcome the community to join in a series of engagement opportunities that seek to center community voice, help shape district direction, and inform the leadership profile for the next district superintendent.

What are Listening Sessions?
Listening sessions are conversations for students, staff and community members to engage directly with BSD’s School Board Directors.

Who Should Participate?
Everyone is invited ― students, staff, families and community members. Some of the session will be held in-person and some are virtual. The session on May 5 will be a large community session with all five board members in attendance. The remaining sessions will be smaller group sessions with two Board Directors in attendance.

Why should I participate?
Participants can expect to talk with Board members on important topics that help shape district direction and inform the profile for the next district superintendent.

Registration is required for all sessions, and attendance links will be sent to participants prior to each session date. Session dates and times are listed on the Spring BSD Board Listening Sessions webpage. Registration is also available through the district website or by clicking here.

Access this message in Spanish and Chinese.

It is time to enroll new students

New student enrollment (including incoming kindergarteners) for the 2022-2023 school year is now open at https://bsd405.org/schools/enrollment/ While you may enroll your students later, enrolling now helps the District ensure we have the correct staffing to support your students with the smallest classes possible.

If your student is already enrolled in a BSD school, you do not need to submit a new enrollment. They will automatically move up to the next grade.

Thank you.

BSF Spring for Schools

Join us in person for Spring for Schools at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue, on May 13, 2022, for a premiere event that’s unlike any of the 31 events of years past! We are keeping your experience and health top of mind as we prepare to celebrate our stars—students and educators in all 29 public schools in Bellevue. Throughout this school year, over $800,000 in distributions from the Foundation directly support the academic, artistic, social, and emotional development of almost 20,000 students.

Spring for Schools is a fundraiser to ensure critical programming provided by BSF continues; donations will be leveraged to transform public education in our community. While registration for Spring for Schools is free, it is our hope that attendees celebrate our students, educators, and mission by making a donation at this time here.

RSVP Today! Or visit www.bellevueschoolsfoundation.org/spring-for-schools
