With the tragic deaths of three students in our neighboring school districts of Issaquah and Seattle from the deadly opioid fentanyl, the Bellevue School District is hosting two community information sessions to help our community respond.
The information sessions – held with our partners the Bellevue Police Department and Youth Eastside Services – will allow parents, students, and community members to learn what is being done to protect our children and in turn what actions we can all take.
Information Session Dates:
- Tuesday, Oct. 22, 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.: at Sammamish High School Performing Arts Center, 100 140th Ave SE, Bellevue, WA 98005
- Wednesday, Oct. 30, 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.: Bellevue High School Performing Arts Center, 10416 SE Wolverine Way, Bellevue, WA 98004
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions. The following is just a sample of what participants came expect to learn.
- Bellevue School District:
- Hear from nurses on what fentanyl is and what safety measures are being taken
- Learn about what is being taught to students
- Bellevue Police Department:
- Get the latest information about the drug problem and what police officers are seeing on a daily basis
- Learn what enforcement measures are being taken to protect our community
- Youth Eastside Services:
- Learn firsthand what drug and alcohol counseling specialists are doing in our schools
- Learn what the signs and symptoms of drug abuse look like
