November 5th, Roxana Pardo Garcia

Roxana Pardo Garcia aka La Roxay is a self-identifying Xicana Mujerista that was born and raised in Burien, Wa. Roxana was raised by a xingona single mother who is a displaced mujer from Michoacan, Mexico. Roxana is the Founder and Owner of La Roxay Productions. LRP has the Mission of elevating and ampliying the Xingona and Latinx cutlture of the PNW by way of experiences and knowledge sharing. Roxana firmly believes that nothing will liberate the hood but the hood itself.

Workshop: Brown and Down

Brown and Down is an introductory workshop to PNW Latinx history. We go through the words that are used to identify the Latinx community, the history of how Latinxs got to the NW, The Chicano Movement in WA state and the country, and how we have historically worked with other communities of color towards our collective liberation.

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
