The SRO Program Advisory Committee was charged with:

  • Review the current SRO program and the goals, objectives, and limitations of the program
  • Recommend defined purpose, goals, expectations, and limitations of the SRO program that are responsive to RCW 28A.320.124 as well as the experiences and needs of BSD students, families, and staff
  • Recommend ways to integrate student and family voice and input on the aspects of the SRO program
  • Recommend in what capacity, if any, the defined SRO program should continue in the BSD
  • Recommend ways to improve transparency of the SRO program and to communicate the work of the SROs and the Bellevue Police Department to the greater learning community

Recent changes to state law regarding SRO programs, require amongst other things, training for SROs, a clear complaint resolution process, data collection on SROs interactions with students, and an MOU between the school district and law enforcement that involves community input.

The Bellevue School District remains committed to ensuring the overall safety, well-being, equitable treatment, and educational success for all students. Thus, we acknowledge the critical need to continually examine the policies and practices that may contribute to systemic inequities within our educational communities.

Thank you to the members of the SRO Program Advisory Committee for their continued work
