Pooled Surveillance Testing Beginning at International School
As previously announced, we will be implementing pooled surveillance COVID testing at International School. This screening testing looks for infections when there is no reason to suspect an individual is infected as a proactive approach to minimizing the potential for outbreaks in the school. Testing takes place in the classroom and will begin for International School on Friday, December 17. Only students for whom families have given consent will participate in this screening testing. In pooled surveillance testing, there will only be communication if there is a positive result in the pool. If there are no positive results in a pool, there will be no further communication with the individuals in the pool.
If there is a positive result in the pool (which would typically be identified within 12 hours), those individuals and/or their parent/guardian will be contacted and referred to diagnostic testing to identify the positive individual(s). The people in the pool will need to quarantine until the positive person is identified, usually within 12 hours of the diagnostic test. Contact tracing will then begin with the positive individual.
