Dear International Families,
As the calendar rolls over to 2022 and we return to school, I do hope that everyone had some wonderful moments during the break. I do recognize that this may have been a challenging break this year as some have had to deal with stresses from COVID cases and others might have needed to deal with travel delays. With all of that, I do hope that there were some times of special memories. Personally, it is always a bit magical when we experience snow.
At this time, we welcome some new staff:
- Elysia Galvan is returning from her maternity leave. At the same time, we are grateful that Sarah Wallick was able to join us this fall. Sarah will still be seen around as she will be doing some tutoring of a few students after school.
- Johanna Wong is joining us as our new School Psychologist, replacing Clint Dickens.
- Jo Johnson will be out on paternity leave as he welcomes his new son. Aiyano Pomato will be his sub while he is out.

No After School Activities or Tutorial for Today
Earlier today, the district sent a communication to all families stating that all after school activities, including tutorial, are cancelled for today. This includes Jubilee Reach, badminton, and drama.
COVID Related Concerns Absences
We do have a few families who have elected to keep their student(s) home for the week of January 4 – 7 as a COVID precaution. This option was shared in the district communication that was sent out yesterday. That communication indicated that teachers will communicate how students will receive instruction for the week. We are generally not planning for broadcasted concurrent instruction. Families in this situation will receive a communication later today with summary information from teachers. This is intended to streamline communication.
Enrollment Lottery for 2022 – 2023
International School lottery applications for incoming incoming 6th grade (current 5th grade) students for the 2022-23 school year will close Friday January 14, 2022 at 4:30 pm. After the close of the application period incoming 6th grade (current 5th grade) students that missed the application period may submit a waitlist application to be added to the bottom of a waitlist.
Siblings of current International School students must apply by January 14 @ 4:30pm to be enrolled in Autumn 2022.
January Principal Coffee
The next principal coffee will be held on Tuesday, January 11 from 9:00 – 10:00. This will continue to be a virtual meeting through TEAMS.
