Principal Coffee

The next Principal Coffee will be held on Thursday, January 26 from 9:00 – 10:00 in the Library. We will take some time to discuss recent communications from the district regarding enrollment trends as well as what is known about the IS rebuild plans at this point, share some information about current work at IS, and preview what is coming up in the next couple of months. The spring will be a busy time at International!! For those unable to join in the day, this information will also be shared at the next evening PTSA meeting.

Introduction of New Staff Member

It took much longer than anticipated, but we are excited to welcome a new member to the Titan family. Kyla Carlson is joining us as our new General School Assistant. In this capacity, Kyla will be responsible for supervising the Testing Center for students who need this support, supporting the office and clinic, and generally providing assistance to all school programs. Prior to joining us, Kyla has worked with the King County Library System, supported Makerspace programs at KCLS, and has been a senior editor at PC Computing Magazine. She has volunteered at multiple schools in BSD and has been involved with PTSA (at the school and district level). This position is jointly funded between the school and PTSA and we are grateful for this support. We are thrilled to have her join us.

Next Season of Middle School Sports

The next season of middle school sports will offer both Volleyball (coached by IS staff) and Flag Football (coached by Jubilee Reach staff). The registration window for both will be January 18 – February 1 and the season will run from February 6 – March 29.

  • Volleyball registrations will occur through Final Forms and will be available in the registration window above.
  • Flag Football registrations will take place through Microsoft Forms rather than Final Forms. The registration link will be available to students in the Middle School TEAMS and in their BSD email. (Note: the plan for Flag Football is to combine International and Big Picture students into a single team. Practices will likely be at International.

City of Bellevue Road Safety Assessment

The City of Bellevue is conducting Road Safety Assessments (RSAs) near International in February, with the goal of improving safety for people walking and biking. The Bellevue School District has long promoted walking and biking as a safe and healthy way to get around our community. As part of their RSA work, the City of Bellevue will be hosting two in-person walking audits, inviting students, parents, faculty, staff, and the community to walk the study areas and identify safety concerns. Sign up here for the Saturday February 4 walk audit and sign up here for the Saturday February 11 walk audit. A maximum of four hours of community service credits will be approved for high school students who attend one of the walk audits. For those who are unable to attend one of the walk audits, please consider filling out a questionnaire to provide your feedback on how to improve the comfort and safety for those who walk and bike.
