Moving Up Ceremony

Tuesday 6/21 @ 9:30

Students will parade around the school one last time with the class banner.    As they pass through the gym Mrs. B will promote them to the next grade after they perform a movement challenge!  Parents are welcomed to line up along the walkways and field to cheer on the students.  Parade route will be shared with the homeroom teachers so please watch for their final newsletter this week!

Before/After School Care

The Bellevue Boys and Girls Club will be offering before/after school care on our campus for the 2022-2023 school year.  To register please visit their website:

https://www.bgcbellevue.org/Programs/Project-Learn-Afterschool-Program

Daily Schedule and Lunch Procedures

We are planning to return to pre-pandemic lunch procedures which means there will be no more outdoor lunch seating and students will not be allowed to be picked up by parents for lunch off campus on a regular basis.  School Lunch will be charged to student accounts once again as the district’s federal lunch fee waiver voucher is due to expire at the end of this school year.

In August we will invite families to apply for the Free/Reduced Priced Meals program.  Information can be found here:  https://bsd405.org/services/nutrition-services/free-reduced/

School Supplies for 2022-2023

Please check this post for information on school supplies:  https://bsd405.org/jingmei/2022/06/school-supply-lists/

It is optional for students to bring school supplies to school but your contribution helps us free up school funds for other programs.

You can purchase bulk through the PTSA or just send a few items from the list.  Or, nothing at all.  We will use school funds to provide supplies to our students.

Progress Reports distributed Tuesday June 21st to Friday June 24th

Progress Reports will be using the “4-3-2-1” scale and comments for each content area, same as mid-year.

For each academic area and sub-category, your child will receive a score from 1-4, and below is a description of what each number means:

4=Exceeds Standard; The student always demonstrates the skill or understanding of the concept and exceeds expectations.

3=Meets Standard; The student demonstrates the skills or understanding of the concept and meets expectations.

2=Approaches Standard; The student sometimes demonstrates the skills or understanding of the concept.

1=Below Standard; The student seldom demonstrates the skill or understanding of the concept.

You will also get a general summary of the learning for each content area or personalized comments for specific content areas.

If your child receives a 2 or 1, please do not worry too much. Coming out of pandemic, students still have a lot of unfinished learning to catch up with. We have supplemental data to help us identify area(s) that we need to intervene in the Fall, as well as identifying areas where your child may benefit from additional summer support.

Jing Mei teachers will be sending paper copies of progress reports and additional assessment data home with students, or PDF of the progress report and related documents to the guardian emails on file on the last day of school (Tuesday, June 21st).

You also have access to view progress reports and attendance on ParentVue or StudentVue, in our learning management system. Please go to https://bsd405.org/departments/district-technology/grades-attendance/ for details on how to get your account activated and set up if you have not done so already. StudentVUE and ParentVUE access to the web-based and pdf elementary progress report will occur after 12:00 PM on Friday, June 24th.

Counselor’s Corner

Here is a letter from Ms. Hanson regarding summer routines and “I” statements to help student overcome conflict.  June Counselor Corner 2022 (1)

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
