Dear 5th Grade Families,
We have some exciting updates from your 5th Grade Graduation Committee. So, first and foremost, thank you to all who are part of our 5th Grade Graduation Committee! We really appreciate your time and commitment to making 5th grade a memorable year. Now, for the updates – please read through this carefully:
SAVE THE DATES:
5th Grade Party: Saturday June 10, 2023 3:00pm – 6:00pm – Dave and Buster’s, Bellevue
5th Grade Graduation: Thursday June 15, 2023 at 2:20pm – Jing Mei Elementary School
5th Grade Celebration: Thursday June 15, 2023 following the graduation in the covered outdoors area
FUNDRAISING:
Each year, 5th grade students and families participate in fundraising to raise money for graduation, celebration, and party. Thank you to all families who supported the bake sale, attended Mod Pizza night, and continue to support our fundraising efforts throughout the year. Our biggest fundraiser is the Brown Bear Car Wash tickets. Each student/family is expected to sell around 10 Brown Bear Car Wash tickets at $12/ticket. If this presents a hardship for you, please e-mail back so we can support you. If you have completed selling all your tickets and would like to help us sell more, let us know. Here is our timeline to sell car wash tickets:
–Week of February 6th Students will receive car wash tickets that they are responsible for selling.
–Students/Families sell to their friends, families, and co-workers, and turn in the money raised to the Front Office.
–Friday March 17th: All money from the car wash ticket sales must be turned in to the Front Office.
5TH GRADE HOODIES:
Thank you to Moneta K, Sue S, and Christin A for leading this charge. On the same day that students receive the car wash tickets, students will also be checking for their correct names on their hoodie. The back of the hoodie will have each student’s English first name and their Chinese name. If you do not want your student’s name listed on the back of the hoodie, please let us know as soon as possible. See attached for the design of the hoodie created by Moneta. We will also be sending out an ordering form through ParentSquare – much like the LNY shirts post for you to be able to order. Our hope is that we are able to provide a hoodie for each 5th grade student through our fundraising efforts and families are able to purchase additional hoodies for themselves for $25 each hoodie.
Finally, you’ll continue to hear from us as we progress towards the end of the year including communication about the yearbook and creating a legacy gift. For now, please save the dates, sell Brown Bear car wash tickets, and look out for a ParentSquare post to order 5th grade hoodies in February. Let us know if you have any questions!
