Dear Families,

We are very excited to get to see many of you soon at our Ice Cream Social Event today at 4-6pm in our new campus. This event is for Prek to 5th grade families and students. Since we are new to this campus, the event will last for two hours instead of one. All teachers will be greeting you in their classroom. After you explore the building, don’t forget to head to the field to enjoy some complimentary snacks and drinks from our wonderful PTSA. You can also purchase bubble tea and shaved ice from the food trucks that PTSA scheduled for you!

DO NOW: Please fill out this After School Pick Up Procedure Survey to ensure that we bring your student to the right spot.

For pick-up, parents have four options:

• Students take school bus:  https://bsd405.org/departments/transportation/bus-routes/
• Students can do Boys and Girls Club afterschool care.
• Drive through pick up
• Park and Walk to pick up: For Kindergarten and 1st Grade afterschool Pick UP; please stand in front of the building under the digital (see signs on walls). For 2nd– 5th grade after school Pick UP; please stand under the front Rainbow Arches (see signs in arches).

We are doing staggered time dismissal to avoid traffic in our hallway. Please arrive 10-15 mins before 3:30 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday if you are doing park and walk on the first week. To avoid crowding, car and foot traffic jam, please pay attention to our arrival and dismissal zones.  Thank you for your patience.

Recess and Lunch

Students will have a 40 minute Lunch/Recess each day.  Lunch will be 25 minutes and recess will be 15 minutes. Students have the option of eating school lunch or bringing lunch from home.

In addition to recess during the lunch period students will also have a 15 minute recess in the afternoon.  Here is the Daily Schedule:

Allergy awareness

As a courtesy to our nut-allergen sensitive students please refrain from packing snacks and lunches that contain nuts.  We appreciate your cooperation and thank you for helping us keep all students safe at school.

In partnership with state and local partners, BSD will hold health fairs on Thursday, August 31. The health fairs will offer immunization clinics to students in preparation for the start of the 2023-2024 school year, as well as information about community agencies, overdose awareness (watch a video shared by Superintendent Aramaki in July about this topic.), internet safety and resources from physical and mental health providers. The fairs are free and open to the public. Immunization appointments are required. Please note, COVID and flu vaccines are not currently available.

BSD nurses, athletics and activities, and technology departments will be on-hand to support families, answer questions and provide resources. Partner organizations will also be in attendance, including: Washington State Department of Health, Youth Eastside Services, International Community Health Services, and Safeway Pharmacies.

BSH Health Fair August 2023
