| Welcome to the 2022-23 school year at Lake Hills Elementary! We hope you are enjoying the beautiful Northwest summer. We are thrilled that we will all be back together in our beautiful building this school year. This communication is intended to provide some general information including a few important dates. There will be additional emails and information coming out in the future. In the meantime, please enjoy the rest of the summer and reach out to us if you have any questions.

| First Day of School and Bell Times: The first day of school for students in Grades 1-5 is Thursday, September 1st. The first day of school for Kindergarten is Wednesday, September 7th. Lake Hills will have the same bell times as in previous years.
Class begins at 8:40 each day and ends at 3:10 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. On Wednesdays, school ends at 12:55pm. Breakfast will be served from 8:20 to 8:35 each day. Students eating school breakfast can arrive at that time each day. Aside from those eating breakfast, school doors will not be unlocked for student entry until 8:30 each day. Please do not drop your student off earlier than that time as there will not be any supervision outside before 8:30 AM. We will send out additional information about what drop-off/pick-up procedures will look like in subsequent emails. |

| Class Placement: You will be notified of your child’s teacher/class placement via email on August 30th. | Kindergarten Orientation: As part of WA Kids, our kindergarten teachers, Ms. Jurista, Ms. Ashraf, and Ms. Preston will be reaching out to schedule a time to meet with each of our kindergarten families individually to get to know a bit about your child and family. Most of these meeting times will occur before the first day of kindergarten, Wednesday, September 7th. Every Lake Hills Elementary School student will be supplied with the instructional materials (e.g. textbooks, workbooks, paper, pencils, crayons, etc.) necessary for their academic success. We recognize children often like to bring their own supplies to supplement what we provide at school. Items you may choose to send with your child will be shared with the rest of the grade and help us stretch school resources further. |

| Transportation: The Bellevue School District provides free transportation for students who reside within their school’s attendance area, but outside their school’s walking boundary. All elementary schools have a one-mile walk path boundary. The transportation department will mail home specific information about your child’s exact pick-up/drop-off location and times a few days before school starts.
