Below are frequently asked questions during the summer to help your family navigate the upcoming school year.  

Medina’s school office is now closed for the summer.  We are planning to re-open the week of  Monday, August 21st from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

If your student’s school plans change and you need to withdraw your student from Medina, please email studentplacement@bsd405.org and include your student’s name and student ID number.

Please join us for Kindergarten Camp on Tuesday, August 29th
Please sign up for one, 45 minute session for your child to attend and make sure to plan on arriving 10 minutes prior to your child’s session time to check-in and allow us to start on time. Following kindergarten camp, we will refine the classroom placements. Once done, you will receive an email with your child’s assigned teacher and a link to sign up for your child’s Kindergarten Welcome Conferences.  Kindergarten Camp will be in lieu of the Medina Meet and Greet for Kindergarten families. If you have students in grades 1-5, Teacher Meet and Greet for those grades will remain on August 31st from 3:30-4pm.

Kindergarten welcome conferences will be held on September 5th, 6th and 7th.  Your student’s kindergarten teacher will email you a sign-up genius link to sign-up for a conference time following kindergarten camp on August 29th. For your planning, please make sure you will be available for some time on those days to conference with your student’s new teacher.

Important Information for All Families to BSD/Medina:

School Supply List for 2023-2024.  Summer break just started, but we’re already thinking about next year.  The 2023-2024 school supplies list  for each grade is now available.  Each student will be supplied with the instructional materials (e.g. textbooks, paper, pencils, crayons, glue sticks, rulers, scissor, etc.) necessary for academic success.  Thank you in advance for sending the optional supplies  on the list with your child at the beginning of the new school year.

Summer Playdate hosted by Medina PTA.  This is optional, but a great way for students and parents to get to know each other before school begins.

Medina PTA is excited to host the annual back-to-school playdates! Get to know new friends, and meet up with friends from previous school years. Dates will be posted when made available.

Multi-Lingual Learners (MLL)

Students who are considered multilingual and who have not been previously tested in WA state will be initially assessed with the WIDA Screener to be eligible for services. Most students will complete the assessment when they start attending school unless they are contacted for testing during the summer.

School Bus Information

  • School Bus Information (for elementary and middle school students): https://bsd405.org/departments/transportation/ (the Transportation Dept will assist with any questions regarding bus service); This will be updated around August 15.
  • Students eligible for bus transportation will be mailed their stop information the week of August 15.  Kindergarten through 3rd graders will also be emailed a bracelet.  If you have not received these items by August 25, please email transportation@bsd405.org.  Be sure to include your student’s name and ID.
