Are you about to take the SAT?  Upcoming SAT Prep Course offered right here at Newport HS starting on October 22nd.  The course consists of six evenings of intense preparation taught by Washington State certificated teachers.  Registration closes on October 20th. The 33rd Annual Newport Ski Swap, our biggest fundraiser of the year, is just around the corner on November 9th and 10th!  One of the most important things that make this event so successful every year is the volunteers, and we need a lot of you!  There are a lot of different jobs, and no experience is required.  The Ski Swap is open for just two days, but there are full days of set up and tear down before and after the Swap.  Please go to this link to the sign-up page and help as much as you can:

General Information

Students, with the new printer server installed by BSD you may need to reload the drivers. Best practice appears to be reinstall when printing from WORD; selecting add printer from the printer properties drop down menu; and typing in the printer ID.

Please note the following printer use considerations in classes and the KASC/library as follows:

Limit 5 pages

Click Print only once

Use printer while in the room/library

Double check which printer you have selected

Get tech assistance if there is a problem.

Peer Tutors Wanted: We are now recruiting Peer Tutors for all subjects. Peer tutors receive community service hours for their assistance. Students who want to be a Peer Tutor can sign up in the Counseling Office. Do you need a Peer Tutor? Are you needing extra help in one of your classes? A peer tutor may be able to help. Request a peer tutor in the Counseling Office. Peer Tutors can provide one on one help or work in small groups.

 

The Knights Academic Success Center offers a variety of learning and technology strategies in support of every Newport student’s success. KASC opens at 7:30 a.m. every weekday. Let us know how we can support your academic, college and career success!

 

Newport Baseball off season training is in full swing! Open Field sessions are on Wednesdays from 1:00pm – 3:30pm and Fridays from 3:00pm-4:30pm. Grab your baseball gear and get some reps in. Weight Training with Coach Kim is in the weight room Mondays from 5:30pm-6:45pm, Thursdays 7:00pm-8:30pm.  Baseball-specific training with one of the best. All returning and prospective ballplayers welcome to both training opportunities!

 

Recruitment for Newport’s Speech and Debate team continues with practice on Monday’s and Thursday’s at 3:40 p.m. in the Knights Academic Success Center (former Library). Returning and new students are welcome!

Greetings! Newport! Come to Newport’s Film making club where you can find people who are also invested in the same passion for film making like you! Meetings will be held every Thursday at 3:40 pm in room 2412.  See you all there!

 

Come to Math Club to solve fun problems, learn competition math, participate in contests and receive homework help!  Meetings are Fridays 3:40-4:40 pm in room 1106.

 

Do you want to expand your mind? Would you like to engage in strategic competition with your peers? Join Chess Club – Tuesday’s after school in room 1102.

All BSD students have access to all online resources at KCLS.
1. Click ‘online resources’ on the kcls.org home page (not the black log in box).
2. Navigate the menu to search for the data base, digital media, or E-book you need.
3. Click on the source and a log in form drops down.
4. Type 405 and your student number in the ‘library card number’ line. type the last four numbers of your student ID for the password. Do Not Log In thru The Landing Page of KCLS as this is the access for physical as well as digital media.
