Career & Technical Education—Learning that Works

Career and Technical Education (CTE) ensures flexible and relevant learning experiences that keep students engaged in their classes while providing a real-world, career-oriented curriculum.

CTE students acquire skills and knowledge relevant to future careers, and enhance academic achievement so they will be prepared for entry into college and the workforce. Newport houses a half dozen of the many options available to students. Newport students can arrange to attend CTE programs housed at other area high schools.

Teachers at Newport are happy to talk to prospective students who have questions about CTE.

Many CTE students graduate high school with industry certificates that allow them to begin immediately in professional careers.

College-bound students also benefit from the real-world experience and find that they progress through college more quickly and receive more opportunities to participate in university research as undergraduates.
