Questions? Newport Staff Here to Help:
First, whatever the issue, coach your teen to address the issue and seek help from those listed below:
- Work along side your teen, demonstrating as you go.
- Even when you feel you need to step in, hold back until your teen has exhausted their capabilities.
- Remind your teen that frustration and insecurity are natural when learning any new skill. Those feelings help your brain apply the extra effort to learn challenging things.
ClassroomsAlways coach your student to ask questions directly to the teacher. It’s important that they begin to learn these self-advocacy skills now. You may always contact the teacher directly if your student cannot resolve the question. |
