All students will take the Smarter Balanced Assessment in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math between April 23rd and May 18th.  During this testing window, we will follow a regular bell schedule with tests administered in Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies classes with provisions for extended-time testing as needed.  The Smarter Balanced Assessment is aligned to the Common Core State Standards.  For those who are interested in more information about State Testing, we included links on the following topics: Smarter Balanced Assessment; Common Core State Standards; Bellevue School District and State Testing.  Our 8th grade students will take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) on May 30th

In preparation for the testing, extra studying at home is neither necessary nor recommended.  However, there are ways in which you can help your student achieve his or her best: encourage a positive attitude and growth mindset; ensure your student gets plenty of sleep and eats a healthy breakfast each morning; avoid scheduling out-of-school appointments during the testing window; and consider providing your student with a healthy snack.  Our Associated Student Body (ASB) Officers will also be leading an initiative to provide their peers on a voluntary basis with “Care Packages” during the testing window.
