The students and staff at Odle will be celebrating its 8th Annual College Week from January 14th through the 18th. During the week, there will be a school-wide focus on college. As part of the celebration, students and staff are encouraged to wear “college-wear” every day that week. In their classes, students will be learning about their teachers’ college journeys, as well as how attending college can positively impact one’s future, a variety of careers, and how to pay for college. Specifically, students will be learning about the College Bound Scholarship, which students must apply for during their 7th or 8th grade year.
As parents, you can help support College Week by talking to your child about either your college journey, why you think college is important, or by having a conversation with your child about what colleges they’ve heard of or are interested in, as well as what career interests they have. Since we have many local colleges in the area, it might even be fun to take a family field trip to a local college campus, so your child can see college life in action! Most importantly, if your child is in 7th or 8th grade, on Wednesday, January 16th, 7th & 8th graders will be receiving an information sheet about the College Bound Scholarship. Please read over the sheet and if your family qualifies, fill out the application online with your student. If you have any questions about College Week, or the College Bound Scholarship, please contact your child’s school counselor.
