December is National Giving Month

This month Leadership has chosen three local non-profits to highlight. This week it is Northwest Harvest. Their focus is getting food to people who are hungry and removing barriers to accessing nutritious food. They partner with 375 high-needs schools, food banks, and meal programs around Washington making sure that children get meals during days out of school and families get groceries. They also have an advocacy team that works to create laws that provide equitable access to food, housing, healthcare, and economic stability. Check out the Ways to Give to Northwest Harvest.

Question of the Week: How many kids in Washington live in a household that faces challenges in putting enough food on the table?

Answer: 1 in every 6 Washington kids

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
