Dear Odle Families,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year.  I hope you have all been enjoying your summer with family and friends.  I’d like to offer a special welcome to our 6th-grade families and all families who are new to Odle or Bellevue.  Our mission at Odle is to empower all students academically, socially, and emotionally in a welcoming, equitable, and safe environment, so they can grow as critical thinkers, problem solvers, and responsible members of local and global communities.  Each year, we renew our commitment to continuous improvement so that we may achieve this mission for each student.

We continue to plan for a full return to our regular, five-day-a-week in-person schedule which is available here.  There have been no changes to that expectation, which was communicated through the Bellevue School District’s Communications Department last month.  We will continue to follow guidance from public health, occupational health, and educational authorities and agencies as we prepare for our full re-opening.  The district will continue to provide communications on this topic, and I will continue to add details that are specific to Odle.

There is much information and many excellent resources on the BSD website about the start of school on Wednesday, September 1st: Start of School Information for the 2021-2022 School Year.

As we prepare to begin a special new school year, please know that the entire Odle staff is here to challenge your student to reach new levels of learning and support your student’s unique needs.  Below, I am including important information for your review in preparation for the new school year:

Parent Information Session: Tuesday, 8/31 (3:00 pm)

Odle Principal, Mr. Miller, will be hosting another Parent Info session via Teams on Tuesday, August 31st at 3:00 pm for those who were unable to join last week.  We apologize greatly, but there was a technical problem with the recordings from last week, and they are not available for viewing.

This session is for those who were unable to join last week.  There is a 300-person limit for the meeting, which should be adequate if only parents who have not previously attend this meeting. Click here to join the meeting

First Day of School Preparation: September 1st

Wednesday, September 1st, is the first day of school.  The building will be open at 8:00 am. The school day will begin at 8:30.  Students who are being driven, walking, or riding bicycles are encouraged to arrive between 8:00-8:15.

What should my student do when he/she arrives on the Wednesday?

Students should go directly to their HOMEROOM class when they arrive.  Directions for how to find a student’s HOMEROOM will be sent around 3:00 pm on Monday.

What else do I need to know about the first day of school?

Students will be given their final schedule in their HOMEROOM on Wednesday.  Students will be provided with the necessary school supplies for the first three days of school in their HOMEROOM. Students do not need to bring a laptop to school for the first three days of school.  They should bring a mask and a lunch (unless they intend to have school lunch, which is free for all students).

What can students expect for the first few days of school?

Students can expect that the first three days of school will focus on building community, having fun, learning about safety protocols, learning about social-emotional skills, touring the building, meeting their teachers, and other general orientation-type activities for all students.  Subject-area instruction will begin on 9/7.

What is the regular bell schedule for Odle?

The regular bell schedule is available here. Students will be dismissed at 2:10 on Wednesday per the usual schedule.

Student Schedules

Draft schedules will be available on Monday, August 30, via ParentVUE and StudentVUE. Final schedules will be distributed in Homeroom on Wednesday.  We cannot accommodate schedule change requests.

Curriculum Night

Curriculum Night will be fully virtual on the evening of 9/21.  Additional details are coming soon.

Odle Map

A map of our building is available here.  Students can use this map to help find their Homeroom once that is known to them on Monday.

Visitors and Volunteers

We are currently not accepting volunteers.  We will be working with the Odle PTSA to facilitate volunteers later in September.  Volunteers will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Visitors are welcome in the main office daily from 8:15 am – 3:45 pm.  Please use the doorbell outside the main entrance to have our office staff greet you.  For the first three days of school, we request that you not visit the office unless it’s necessary.  Safety is our top priority as we work to implement physical distancing requirements with increased students and staff in the building.

School Supplies

A list of recommended school supplies for the 2021-22 school year is available here.  All required supplies for the first three days of school will be provided.

School Fees

There are no fees that need to be paid at this time.  For classes or programs that require fees, they will be assigned to your student’s account later in September.  We will provide instructions at that time for how to pay fees online.

Laptops

Students will NOT need their laptops for the first three days of school.  Students should begin bringing their laptops everyday beginning 9/7.  6th Grade students and students who are new to the Bellevue School District will be issued their new laptops for the year beginning on 9/7 at Odle.
