Stand for the pledge of allegiance Vikings (wait 3 seconds)

We pause to acknowledge that Odle Middle School resides on the traditional and occupied land of the Coast Salish Peoples – past, present, and future. We honor their connection to the region, pay respect to Coast Salish Elders past and present, and stand in solidarity through their struggles.

It’s the last day of Hispanic Heritage Month! Did you know that Dolores Huerta was an elementary school teacher before devoting herself to civil rights activism? Huerta co-founded the Agricultural Workers Association in 1960 and worked with Cesar Chavez to start the National Farm Workers Association in 1962. She now runs the Dolores Huerta Foundation and has received many accolades, including the Eleanor Roosevelt Award for Human Rights in 1998 under President Clinton and the Presidential Medal of Freedom under President Obama in 2012.

Today’s lunch is chili and cheese tamales with refried beans and salsa.

Have a great day everyone!

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
