Today is Thursday, October 21st.

Stand for the pledge of allegiance Vikings (wait 3 seconds)

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. (wait 3 seconds)

We pause to acknowledge that Odle Middle School resides on the traditional and occupied land of the Coast Salish Peoples – past, present, and future. We honor their connection to the region, pay respect to Coast Salish Elders past and present, and stand in solidarity through their struggles.

Next week is Spirit Week! Leadership has planned five fun spirit days for us to participate in. You may even have your picture taken for the yearbook! On Monday wear your most fun mask. We’re not talking about a full face mask, but the masks that we wear every day. For example, Ms. Bailey has a mask with unicorn corgis on it, otherwise known as a unicorgi. You get the picture.  On Tuesday it is Twin Day, so find a friend and dress similar! Wednesday is Pajama Day – a favorite among students and staff. Thursday is Viking Spirit Day! Wear your Odle spirit gear or wear these class colors: 6th graders wear red, 7th graders wear blue, and 8th graders wear white. And finally, Friday is Halloween costume day! Can’t wait to see your spirited looks!

Fiber Club meets during Activity Time – 3:55 – 4:40 today in Room 219 (Mr. Scott’s room, again, he’s that bald science teacher). Everyone is welcome, even if you’re in House Slytherin. No experience necessary! Materials and supplies available, or bring your own.

Get ready for another Filipino American Heritage fact! Filipinos from around the world mark down September 1 as the beginning of the countdown to Christmas. They are known as the “Ber months” because they all end in -ber, September, October, get it? This countdown is the world’s earliest and longest timespan of a Christmas season. Christmas Eve is celebrated with a Midnight Mass, and followed by the Noche Buena feast, which means families eat Filipino yuletide foods around midnight!

Leadership has created a way for you to participate in heritage months! Check out the Odle Student Team to learn more and share your heritage!

Today’s lunch is chicken and waffles or a cheese omelet and waffles.

Have a great day everyone!

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
