Good morning, Vikings!

Today is Monday, May 2nd.

Stand for the pledge of allegiance Vikings (wait 3 seconds)

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. (wait 3 seconds)

We pause to acknowledge that Odle Middle School resides on the traditional and occupied land of the Coast Salish Peoples – past, present, and future. We honor their connection to the region, pay respect to Coast Salish Elders past and present, and stand in solidarity through their struggles.

Can’t wait to see you!

“May the Fourth be with you!” Wednesday this week is May Fourth, an unofficial day of celebrating everything Star Wars. We encourage you to wear your favorite Star Wars fan gear or costume! Please remember to leave costume masks and weapon accessories at home.

Students will be taking the smarter balanced assessment starting next week. It is very important your laptop is working to access the test. Please see Ms. Gunnerson in the office during lunch if you need tech help before the SBA.

Vikings, this month is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The rich history and heritage of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders is thousands of years old and is integral to the shaping of the history of the United States. Formerly known as Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month, the celebration was officially renamed Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in 2009. The month-long observance recognizes the influence and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the achievements and culture of the United States.

Calling all Odle artists! We need your talent and help to design next year’s planner cover. What comes to mind when you visualize Odle? What about our school community? We want to know! You can create a drawing, a painting, a Photoshop page…the possibilities are endless, but need to fit on a regular size sheet of copy paper. Turn in your full-page submission to Ms. Barut-del Fierro by Friday, May 13th via email, Teams, or drop it off in the main office. Make sure your full name is on your entry.

If you’ve heard about the Ukraine Russia War, you know that many kids are being relocated to find refuge from the destruction any war brings. You have the opportunity to make this experience a little lighter for them. In essence, we would be writing letters and sending them to displaced children in Poland. Your contributions don’t need to be long, just thoughtful. You can write and drop your letter in the library by giving it to Ms. Nava, or you can email Mehak (“meh-heck”) Grover at [email protected] to send a digital copy. Take this opportunity to go home feeling good knowing that you made a positive change in your community.

Fiber Club is back this Thursday!

Today’s lunch is whole grain waffles with pork sausage or scrambled eggs and maple syrup.

Have a great day everyone!

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
