Stand for the pledge of allegiance, Vikings. (wait 3 seconds)

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. (wait 3 seconds)

Hi Vikings! Today is the last day of spirit week, its college day! I hoped that you had fun dressing up with your school throughout the week!

May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Month! In 1992 Congress passed a resolution expanding the observance from a week to a month in 1992, which is timed to coincide with two important milestones in Asian American and Pacific Islander history: the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants in the United States which was on May 7, 1843.

Hey 7th graders, today is May 19th and as we continue to get closer to the end of the year we need to sign up for WEB leaders. It’s a great experience and you get a cool shirt! If you have questions, your opportunity to ask them will be during tutorial in room 235 on May 22nd. If you need some time and space to complete your application, Mr. Tillotson, Ms. Bharti, and Ms. Farkas will be hosting tutorial on Tuesday, May 23rd in room 235 for students to come and work on their WEB applications. Applications are due by the 24th to Ms. Farkas, Ms. Bharti, or Mr. Tillotson. Late applications will not be accepted. Acceptance letters will be sent May 26th.

Name the Viking! The art department created a large paper mâché Viking head as a mascot for Odle and now it needs a name. To submit suggestions for the Viking head mascot, look for the QR code for the survey posted in the halls and be creative! The 3rd period class with the most participation from Tuesday of Spirit Week will win the right to choose the name from the suggestions list. Remember to keep the names school-appropriate or they will be deleted.

All 8th grade students, there is an upcoming cruise next month on June 21st. If you have not been assigned in or out of school suspension, have not been skipping class and assigned tutorials excessively, and has less than 14 unexcused tardies, you are eligible to participate in this trip. To participate, turn in your permission slip by next Friday, May 26th. If you lose your slip, make sure to drop by the office to pick up another one.

Hey students! You have earned over 10,232 OARRS as a school! Please remember to write your full last name on your OARRS, otherwise they will get discarded from the prize drawing. The current prize options are: movie and snack after school with a friend, lunch with the counselors, and choosing a song for passing period! Keep being respectful, responsible, and safe!

Vikings, don’t you deserve to be in a clean, safe space? We need to clean up after ourselves in order to make that happen- in the hallways, in the commons, in the bathrooms, outside the building, everywhere at Odle! If you notice students not taking care of their own responsibilities or if someone is intentionally leaving trash or causing damage, please tell them directly if you feel safe in doing so. If you don’t feel comfortable, please see Miss Gayle or another trusted staff member for support. Trashing our school is NOT cool!

Hello Odle students! Are there topics that you think people aren’t aware and you’d like to discus with others? Then world conversations club is just for you, Every Friday in room 215, Ms. Neal’s room!

Hey Vikings!  The Spring Fling is tonight from 6-8 in the gym. If you decide to attend at the last minute, you can buy a ticket at the door for $10. All tickets include a snack and drink. Tickets are free for students on free and reduced lunch. Tickets are not refundable. At the dance, there will be an area to play board games and a DJ. You can also purchase a slice of pizza for $2. ASB is so excited to have a dance to celebrate 4th quarter. We are looking forward to the upcoming dance and want everyone to have the opportunity to attend. Having fun school events like a dance is a privilege that is open to all students. To be able to attend the dance, students must follow behavior expectations at school. Students who are unable to show that they can follow school expectations of being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe will lose their opportunity to participate and purchase a ticket. The following behaviors will prevent students from being able to attend the dance:

· 6 or more unexcused tardies

· Skipping a class

· A discipline referral to the assistant principals

This expectation is in place from April 21 until the afternoon of the dance. This event is for Odle students only.

Don’t forget to pick up your pre-sale tickets today at lunch!

Today’s clubs are Bollywood Club in Room 111, World Conversations Club in room 215, Rainbow Club in room 119, and Math Club in rooms 115, 117, and 223.

Today’s lunch is Mandarin orange chicken with steamed broccoli and brown rice.

Have a great day!
