Step 1

Most students begin the MDL Program in Kindergarten. Incoming Kindergarten lottery applications for MDL are accepted during the Choice School application period (mid-December to mid-January of the year prior to starting school).

If you missed the Choice School application period or you are new to the district, please submit a waitlist application. Students wishing to join the program in non-entry level grades will be required to pass an appropriate grade level language proficiency screening before being offered placement.

Step 2

If there is space in the program, your student will take a language proficiency test to verify they meet the requirements.

Note: The requirement of the language proficiency assessment might be waived for students entering kindergarten at the beginning of the school year and for students coming into the District from a Mandarin Chinese speaking country.

Step 3

Students new to BSD:
New students interested in the program will submit a waitlist application and when submitting their enrollment submission will list their attendance area school and type in the comments “Applied to the MDL program”. If there is space and the qualifications are met they will be enrolled directly in the program. If not they will be enrolled at their attendance area school. The enrollment process is available here.
Current BSD students:

After application and acceptance to the program, the transfer process is initiated.

If you need help filling out the online application, please send an email to: multilingualinfo@bsd405.org.
